Bodo Peace Agreement 2020: On his first visit to Assam after the signing of the Bodo Tripartite Peace Agreement in 2020, Prime Minister Modi announced a package of 1500 billion rupees for the state`s Bodo territories. The Prime Minister had also omitted the opening ceremony of the Khelo India Youth Games in January 2020. Under the agreement, NDFB groups will leave the path of violence, surrender their weapons and dissolve their armed organizations within one month of signing the agreement. • The Indian government has so far signed three agreements with the Bodo tribes for 27 years.

This agreement is a series of concerted efforts to meet the aspirations of the Bodo people with regard to their cultural identity, language, education and economic development and political aspirations. The Bodo Agreement offers political and economic benefits to the tribal areas without targeting a separate Bodoland State or a Territory of the Union.
