Beca Agreement Countries List

The pact allows the U.S. to supply India with encrypted communications equipment and systems, allowing Indian and U.S. military commanders as well as aircraft and ships of both countries to communicate via secure networks in times of peace and war. To take a simple example, it`s like exchanging messages or communicating with a friend on WhatsApp, Signal or Telegram in real time and securely. The BECA agreement has been under negotiation between India and the US for more than a decade, with the previous UPA government concerned about its impact on India`s national security, given that the bilateral agreement also provides for India to share similar data with the US. The agreement is one of the few fundamental agreements that the United States concludes with its close partners. Under the BECA agreement, U.S. forces will provide advanced navigation and avionics services and share geographic data with India that will help improve the accuracy of the Indian Military`s hardware systems and automated weapons, such as drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. The signing of BECA will enable India and the United States to act together and be in a better position to shape the regional and global environment for peace and stability.

However, the two countries should not glorify this signing, because these agreements are not an end in themselves, but a means to achieve a greater end – the security and prosperity of their citizens. In the face of rising tensions between India and China after the deaths of twenty soldiers in Ladakh four months ago, the pact aims to help India narrow the military rift with Beijing. The strengthening of cooperation mechanisms between the two militaries should be seen in the context of an increasingly aggressive China, which has threatened a large number of countries in its neighborhood and beyond and has challenged several established norms and aspects of international relations. The talks facilitated the exchange of information between the two countries` security, military and intelligence services, including the exchange of high-end satellite imagery, wiretaps and data on Chinese troops and weapons operations along the LAC. Sources said the DPG was revived after a four-year hiatus. The decision to revitalize it was taken during the last 2+2 dialogue between India and the UNITED States last year and was visited by the defense and foreign ministers of the two countries. Under BECA, the two countries can exchange maps, maritime and aeronautical charts, commercial and other unclassified images, geodetic, geophysical, geomagnetic and gravitational data. In addition to the standard data, the agreement also includes the transmission of classified information with security measures to ensure that it is not passed on to third parties.. . . .
